Sachin Karne

Sachin Karne was born in 1965 in Pune, Maharashtra.  After completing a Diploma in Painting in 1987 from Pune Art College and a Diploma in Art Education from Sir J.J. School of art in 1988, he traveled to Baroda to complete his Post-Diploma in Creative Painting in 1990 from the M. S. University of Baroda.  Sachin has been a participant of various art residencies.  Notably he was the recipient of the guest residency at the prestigious Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, The Netherlands 2003-04.  He was also awarded a residency in Beijing, China 2013.  He is an awardee of the Artist’s Centre Portrait exhibition Mumbai 1987 and the 41st National Art Exhibition, Lalit Kala New Delhi in 1998. Sachin has periodically been involved as a visiting lecturer in various institute of national repute including the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, J.J. School of Art, Mumbai and M.S University of Vadodara. He has had four solo exhibitions with Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai since 1998 and has participated in various curated exhibitions in India and abroad. His works are part of several notable national and international collections as well as being a part of the N.G.M.A Collection, New Delhi. As an artist he has travelled extensively and chooses to live and work in Baroda.
